Weekend Update

This weekend we had a visit from an old friend(s). Spike and Aviva, from Toronto, spent a brief but enjoyable 24 hours with us. Aviva did an amazing job cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Meat pies, Sheppard's pie, chicken etc etc. What a food production.

The swallowing is still really tough and the acid reflux seems to be getting worse. May have to chat with someone on Monday about getting some relief!

Sunday morning was a good football (soccer) morning. Man Utd beat Wigan 2-0 to secure the premiership title. Now it's on to Europe for the Champions League title game May 21st.

Lastly, I would just like to wish my (our) Mom a very happy, special and wonderful mother's day. We love you. Especially your baby!!!

  2. Ade-
I appreciate your leveling with all of us about the reality of your experience despite the other words you've used in communicating about how things have been going. There is NO WAY any of us can truly appreciate what you are going through unless we,ourselves, have gone through it. Words can only communicate so much. You, my dear man, are the one who is slogging through this hellish experience, and it is a freaking form of medical/physical boot camp! You are in a battle that is tough and challenging---there is no getting around that. But, despite the horrendous nature of this war, you are doing your part to fight back and give 'em "what for!" And we, your family and friends, are doing our very best to cheer you on and say,"Yes, Ade! Go for it! Go get 'em!" Adrian, hang in there. Get through these last treatments. Keep in mind that while they are making you miserable, they are helping you! It's like kids eating spinach and taking cod liver oil (ok, they don't do that anymore), but it's the price (a hefty one, I know) you gotta pay to get the benefits. Only a few more to go, and you will start to get some relief. As you say, maybe not right away, but the treatments will be over with, and you will be able to start recouping from them. Keep your "eye on the prize." We are all out here supporting you, cheering you on. Keep thinking about that, maintain your cool, your positive thinking. It's tough, but it will help you get through this. Almost there, Ade. Almost there.....hugs to you.

  3. Food sounds great. I hope you were able to have some. And I hope you can get something to take car of the acid reflux. I woke up this morning and said to Phil, "Ade's last week with treatment!"

    You're in the homestretch!
