How I wish

You have no idea how I wake up every day and think that this is the day. This is where I start seeing improvement. That this is where I see less swallowing pain.

I know the doctors said it could be two to four weeks to see improvement. I guess they base it on the residual radiation effects to leave your body. We will soon be coming up on two weeks so lets hope I am at the low end of the improvement time scale.

  1. Two to four weeks. That is a long ordeal. You've got to take it day by day...and do whatever you can to get chow into your body (easier said then done...that I am damn sure!). As you imply, it is one step at a time...one day at a time. That morning will come when you do feel some relief. You will get there.

  2. My Dear Adrian-
Please understand my opening salutation; my heart goes out to you. You are writing so clearly about the significant difficulties you are facing with something, heretofore, you (as we all) took (take) for granted. Right now your ability to swallow and get the proper nutrition is of utmost importance. I know you are not askng for advice, but....I'm not sure you are seeing a nutritionist. Maybe you said, but I don't remember. You need as much guidance as possible in this area. Have you tried the Ensure Puddings? I know you are sick of the Ensure and the Carnation, but...I am hoping you will seek and get some help and guidance on how to get "the right stuff" into your body. Believe me, we are all hoping that you will begin to see that you are turning the corner sooner rather than later. It will come! Meantime, keep sipping. One sip at a time, Ade. Keep it coming. (P.S. If you don't receive this, it's bc I can't pass the freaking letter test below!)

  3. Ade (I hope you don't mind me calling you that),

I'm you favourite nephew's (ilan) girlfriend. It has taken me an entire night to read you blog, since the first comment to the last, and I can't tell you how beautiful it has been to see your strength and determination through this horrible ordeal. More beautiful is the support your family and friends are giving you, and I must say I'm a little bit jealous.

I can't even begin to understand how you are feeling, but I know you are strong (it is the african blood) and you will get through this. 35 sessions is an amazing achievement. Now, you need to take care of yourself, and give everything you have in you.

It was great seeing Robyn last weekend, we had fun. She is a beautiful woman and extremely well behaved! I'm sure she is having a great time.
I've heard we are coming to see you in September and I'm really looking forward to that.

I have faith in you and I have faith that God protects those who want to live. You want to live.

Muitos beijos (kisses in portuguese) from your new brasilian family member and blog addict,

    Carolina.

  4. Adrian,

I am certain your throat will improve, I wish some of us could help out more. You are in our thoughts. I noticed a blog prior that struck me somewhat. The last time we flew together you gave me a 20 dollar bill... obviously for being such an outstanding first officer. At the time I thought it was a pretty good deal, a UPS captain handing out 20's is a miracle in and of itself as you well know. Too bad it is a 20 from Zimbabwe! All my other foreign currency has been my best investment this year. I guess you got me on that one.

However, this is how I know your throat will improve. You have to fly with me again to get that 20 back, but don't be so typical and try charging me interest.

We miss you over here and look forward to your return.

    Cheers to you sir,

    Paul White and Family

  5. Skinny-

Ditto what Allan wrote last week. The yellow Livestrong wristband you gave me 6 weeks ago has never left my wrist. It is a constant reminder of what you have to go through on a daily basis. If feel I am right there with you. Keep up the good spirits, you will get through this.
